The bronze wares collected by the museum are considered as the gem of Chinese art and culture. As the political center of the Western Zhou Dynasty, Shaanxi province is known as “The Hometown of Bronze wares”. Since Western Han Dynasty, many classic bronze wares from the Western Zhou Dynasty had been excavated. The number and variety of the bronze wares rank the first place in China. Bronze Gong is specially designed wine vessel during the turn of the Shang and Zhou dynasties. It consists of a square body and a cover which are ingeniously decorated with the image of dragons, tigers, and relief of phoenixes, birds, Tao Tie creature, and fish scale. The vessel makes a superb bronze masterpiece for its creative combination of mysterious and unique design and bold patterns. The vessel is in the shape of ox with four strong legs, full and sturdy. Its sticking-out tongue serves as the spot and it’s back has a square opening with the lid knob featuring a standing tiger. And the lid is chained with the vessel as a whole for convenience.
