The characters on the lid mark its ranking. According to these inscriptions, the tripod was made in 59 BC and transferred to Shanglinyan Garden in 46 BC. Two parts of characters are inscribed on the edge of the heater. The former part marks its size, weight, manufacturer, number and ranking. But the later part indicates it originally belonged to Hongnong palace, and then transferred to Rong palace in Shanglinyuan garden. The inscriptions recorded its name, capacity, weight, manufacture time and manufacturer, indicating it was made by a bronze-casting craftsman name Li Jun from Shanglinyuan garden in 21 BC. \nIn the Han Dynasty, people treated their afterlife just like they treated their real life. So tombs received special attention by the people. Therefore, the construction of the mausoleums for emperors traditionally started right after the emperor ascended throne. The mausoleum complex for the emperor usually consists of the tomb mount, the memorial temple, the wall around the tomb and the watchtowers. Buried along with the emperor are numerous burial objects and the satellite tombs of the favorite ministries and generals scattered around the mausoleum, as well as their close relatives. There are altogether eleven mausoleums built for emperors with nine of them built on the plateau to the north of Weihe River. Unearthed one kilometer east to Changling Mausoleum, this seal was inscribed with four characters of birds seal script meaning Empress’ Seal. It is made of Hetian suet white jade with a monster-shaped protrusion. Its quality, knob style and inscription all indicate that this seal belonged to Han Empress Lyuzhi (241 BC ~ 180 BC).
